ASCENT tO SCORPION: JM Vinyasa 100hr Advanced Teacher TRAining
DATES: JULY 11- AUGUST 6, 2020
Lighthouse Yoga School is excited to announce our first intermediate/advanced 100-hour training, Ascent to Scorpion. Utilizing Jared’s classic JM Vinyasa format we will tailor the sequence to focus on inversions and backbending postures, the building blocks of Scorpion Pose. This training will cover light philosophy and anatomy geared to understanding the mechanics of these postures, as well as learning how to sequence and teach backbends and inversions in a Vinyasa format.
As with all JMY teacher trainings there will be a daily sadhana practice of mantra, pranayama, and meditation. Because this is an intermediate/advanced level training, students are expected to be familiar with mantra and pranayama so that we can do a more dynamic sadhana. This will include learning longer mantras and being comfortable with breath retention.
Ascent to Scorpion is designed to give more seasoned practitioners a chance to fly!
We require that students have previously completed a 100, 200 or 300 hour teacher training with Jared McCann to attend this training. If you have not yet studied with Jared, you may attend the 100hr JM Vinyasa Foundations online training in June in order to be eligible for this training. There will be no exceptions to this rule. We understand that some students may have done multiple other trainings previously, but in order to maintain a high level of learning as well as everyone’s safety, it is important that all students in the group are familiar with the JM Vinyasa system in order to participate. Students who attend both the JM Vinyasa Foundations Training and Ascent to Scorpion will be eligible for a 200hr certification from Yoga Alliance.
100-HOUR INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED TRAINING OBJECTIVES
Learn to practice and teach intemediate + advanced level JM Vinyasa, with clarity and precision from anywhere in the world with Jared McCann and his team of highly skilled teachers. Immerse in Sadhana, asana class and study advanced asana in-depth from the perspective of practitioner and teacher with Jared. This training will give participants the skills to sequence an intermediate and advanced level class as well as tools to offer students proper drills and techniques to help them safely explore more advanced level asana. Rebecca Causey will take students further down the road of understanding Anatomy + Kineseology as applied to yoga asana and Michael Guiou will dive deep Yoga History and Philosophy. All classes and lectures will take place online via Zoom. Downloadable recordings will be made available to all participants in order to make the training accessible to students in any time zone. Live attendance is encouraged but not required.
This 100hr backbending and inversions focused training will provide tools and techniques for the following:
- Refine trainee’s own personal asana practice
- Learn how to effectively cue + teach an intermediate/advanced JM Vinyasa class
- Understand anatomy + physiology as applied to advanced yoga asana
- Incorporate Yoga history + philosophy into practice and teaching
- Sustain a regular Sadhana practice with advanced meditation, mantra, pranayama

Upon completing the course, students seeking in 100hr Yoga Alliance credits must submit a 15 minute video demonstrating their ability to teach a prescribed section of the JM Vinyasa class. We will grade and send feedback on the sequence and the video. Homework must be submitted within 1 month of completing the training and requires an additional $50 processing fee paid directly to Lighthouse Yoga School at the time of submission for the time spent grading and giving feedback. This is required for YA certification, though all students who participate and complete the contact hours will receive a JMY certificate of completion.
